2022-23 Case/Pitch Competitions

Making the Case for Sustainability
(SISA x CSB Annual Case Competition)

On Friday, November 18th, 2022, we were proud to host the inaugural Making the Case for Sustainability: SISA x CSB Case Competition in collaboration with the NYU Stern Center for Sustainable Business (CSB).

This first-time event hosted 36 MBA students from the full-time, part-time, and tech MBA programs for a day of sustainability education and fast-paced pitch development! Students teamed up to tackle the case prompt: conceptualizing a sustainable packaging solution for a consumer good of their choice and using CSB’s ROSI Framework to convince an esteemed panel of judges of the returns on the investment.

SISA was honored to welcome Alessandro Carlucci, Chairman of the Board, Business for Social Responsibility and Former CEO, Natura, and Lauren Rodriguez, Senior Director of Partnerships, Closed Loop Partners, to join Chisara Ehiemere on the judging panel.

Congratulations to Julie Tzeng, Nicholas Imbriglia, Zoe Cantor, Reema Patel, and Deshani Gunathlake for their winning submission, Dispense! Thank you to all of the participants for their creative pitches, the CSB team for their partnership, and the judges for donating their time and expertise! We look forward to seeing more fantastic pitches next year.

Green Bond Pitch Competition
(CSB EmpowHER x Morgan Stanley)

NYU Stern's Center for Sustainable Business partnered with Morgan Stanley for their final EmpowHER Career Development Program for Women in Sustainable Finance event of the semester. The Green Bond Pitch Competition introduced students to debt financing and the current corporate landscape. Experts from Morgan Stanley’s Fixed Income division led students through Corporate 500 options for sustainable finance instruments, KPIs, the overall addressable market, and examples of bonds and loans issued across various industries. Students were then tasked with structuring a green bond for a Fortune 500 company of their choosing and pitching it to a figurative boardroom.

Judges and speakers included Maksim Rakhman, (Executive Director, Product Lead at ESG Center for Excellence, Global Capital Markets, Morgan Stanley), Michelle Wang, (Managing Director in Fixed Income Capital Markets, Morgan Stanley), and Pauline Lam (Visiting Scholar, NYU Stern)
